History

Nuinsco Resources Limited has its roots in the Noranda mining camp of northwestern Quebec, where company founders Doug Hume and George Archibald met while working on different projects in the mid-1960s. An exciting and frenetic time in the evolution of geological theory, this period saw multiple new developments in the Noranda camp and elsewhere.

From these exhilarating origins, Hume and Archibald joined forces to pursue opportunities within the sector and soon became aware of Insco Mines , which had the down-dip extension of the horizon which hosted the Lac Dufault - Waite Amulet copper-zinc deposits.

Interest in this area, coupled with strategic partnerships, led to the birth of New Insco in 1970. The fledgling company began to spread its wings in 1971 with the acquisition of a property adjacent to a massive sulphide discovery 30 miles northwest of Noranda. Drilling in 1972 led to the discovery of approximately one million tons of 3% copper. Exploration at the Aldermac Project, west of the main Noranda camp, would ultimately lead to the discovery of massive sulphide there as well. This early work would set the tone for what would become a series of flourishing projects.

The company was reorganized as Nuinsco Resources in the early 1980s, to soon follow with the acquisition of the Cameron Lake project. Rainy River, Lac Rocher, Minago and other projects followed. Today, some 35 years after a single geologist planted the seeds of its success, Nuinsco is an ever-expanding exploration company with a multifaceted stake in base metal, precious metal, and uranium projects.
